Implementation of direct stator voltage control of stand-alone DFIG-based wind energy conversion system

2017
This paper presents an implementation of Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) based Standalone Wind Energy Conversion System (SWECS). Control algorithms of Rotor Side Converter (RSC) are presented for maintaining voltage and frequency for variable speed DFIG based SWECS. A prototype of this proposed DFIG based SWECS is developed using a DSP (Digital Signal Processor-dSPACE DS1104). The proposed DFIG is tested under R or RL loads. The Dynamic performance of this Voltage and Frequency Control (VFC), is tested at balanced load, sudden change in loads and for variable wind speed. Experimental results are carried out using a 3 KW DFIG and a dSpace DS1104 card. Experimental results demonstrate the performances of the PI-Hysteresis rotor current control strategy.
