Analysis of plant root system influence on electrical properties of the soil

This paper presents the study of the relationship between apparent electrical conductivity of the soil and plant root system. The apparent electrical conductivity of the soil was measured during plants root system development in field and bench experiments, to verify the measurement capacity of soil apparent electrical conductivity as identification methodology of plant root system. The results indicate that plant root system varies the electrical conductivity of the soil and therefore, plants roots can be detected by electrical geoprospecting methods.
