The present invention relates to multimedia technology, and particularly relates to an adaptive interpolation method and encoding and decoding module, to solve the prior art when using a fixed interpolation filter interpolation, the problem of poor accuracy of the prediction image. Said method comprising: based on a different set of sub-pixel interpolation filter for setting the quantization performance comparison between the partial image pixel interpolation factor of the image, respectively, obtaining a matching relationship between the quantization factor and the optimum sub-pixel interpolation filter bank saving, and the matching relation to the encoder and the decoder; encoding side and decoding side to select an optimal set of interpolation filter quantization factor information and the reference image corresponding to the content from the matching relationship of the reference image content dividing the pixel interpolation processing. The codec module comprises: a storage sub-module, an interpolation processing sub-module sub-module and a codec. Using the techniques of the present invention can improve the accuracy of the predicted motion compensation image.
