"TSIKADA-M-UTTH" multi-purposes satellite system

1994
The TSK multi-purpose satellite system has been developed to replace first generation low-orbit navigation systems as well as the COSPAS-SARSAT system. The system will provide operations for both existing customers and new customers having advanced equipment. TSK is to perform the following tasks: definition of the location of an unlimited number of mobile customers in any region of the globe independently of weather; maritime vehicles and aeroplanes location definition in an emergency; support the ELECON-STIR system: consignment monitoring and traffic control. The orbital constellation consists of seven satellites which are located within seven orbital planes equally distributed along the equator in longitude (circular orbit height is about 1,000 km; orbit inclination is 83 ang. degrees). This provides for customers to be in touch with the satellite on average for 90 minutes in equatorial regions, 45 minutes at mid-latitudes, and 20 minutes at high geographical latitudes.
