Environmental and health aspects of selected organohalide compounds: an information overview

1978
Thousands of man-made chemicals are being used for a variety of purposes. It is essential that the potential hazards associated with the production and use of these compounds be assessed. It is also essential to present these assessments in such a manner that reliable judgments can be made with regard to the potential deleterious environmental and human health effects of a chemical. This report has gathered information from the open literature on selected halogenated organic compounds (difluorodichloromethane (fluorocarbon 12), trichlorofluoromethane (fluorocarbon 11), chloroform, methyl chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, perchloroethylene, hexachlorobutadiene, vinyl chloride, allyl chloride, and ethylene dibromide) and presents various aspects of the environmental and health effects of these anthropogenic compounds. 915 references.
