Magnetic 2D ferromagnetic heterostructures for spintronic THz emission

2021
Recently emerged spintronic terahertz (THz) emission spectroscopy has been widely employed not only to investigate ultrafast spin dynamics, to understand the fundamental physics of femtosecond demagnetization, but also been treated as contactless ultrafast Ampere meter for femtosecond spin currents. Here we explored a new atomically thin 2D materials (Fe 3 GeTe 2 ) with topological assisted room-temperature ferromagnetism via THz emission spectroscopy, and observed THz radiation from Fe 3 GeTe 2 |(Bi x Sb 1-x ) 2 Te 3 heterostructures, verifying the existence of room-temperature magnetism in 2D van der Waals materials. These observations pave the way for further exploiting new phenomena and new physics in magnetic 2D materials.
