Transportation-related skills have been identified by parents as a critical area in which to teach children and youths to be more independent. Crossing Streets, the authors' initial effort to investigate skill acquisition and generalization in a virtual reality environment, attempts to teach children, including those with disabilities, a safe way to cross a street.
