The invention discloses an intelligent formation process of a nickel-metal hydride battery and a battery prepared hereby. When in charging formation for the first time, the nickel-metal hydride battery is charged for 0.1-2 h by the current of 0.01C-0.2C multiplying power, is laid aside for 10-60h under the high temperature of 40-70 DEG C and is charged under constant power to the voltage of 1.35-1.4V under the condition of 0.3-0.5W; then the battery is charged to the current of 10-200mA under constant voltage, is discharged to 1.0V with the current of 0.1-0.5C after being laid aside and finally discharged to 1.0V with the current of 0.05C-0.1C. The anode material uses spherical nickel hydroxide, Co-coated spherical nickel hydroxide is used as anode active material, wherein Co, Zn, Cd and Y are added to the spherical nickel hydroxide, and Co(OH)2 or CoOOH is coated on the surface of the spherical nickel hydroxide. The nickel-metal hydride battery has the advantages of good cycle life and good capacitance consistency after cycle.
