Integration of Faith Community Nursing into Health Care Systems: Stimulating Community-Based Quality Care Strategies

Integration of the faith community nurse into health care systems and networks is foundational to placing more emphasis on whole person health, prevention, health promotion, and the role of the church in health. There are limited dollars being dedicated to inclusion of prevention in the current health care systems. Inclusion of faith community nursing into reimbursement systems supports more emphasis on prevention. This chapter will present current models of care where the work of faith community nurses is currently documenting community benefit dollars through cost savings and cost avoidance.
