Formate dehydrogenase mutant, and use thereof

2013
A formate dehydrogenase mutant protein having a β-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-dependent formate dehydrogenase activity is constructed by introducing a site-specific mutation into a histidine residue located at position-224 in an amino acid sequence for a formate dehydrogenase mutant originated from Mycobacterium vaccae . The protein can exhibit a high formate dehydrogenase activity in the presence of an organic solvent. The mutant is useful for the production of an alcohol using a ketone as a starting material or the like.
