Hydrogen production and derivatives from renewable energy systems for a best valorization of sustainable resources

Abstract Technological developments and experiments carried out in recent years in the field of hydrogen coupled with renewable energy sources have shown that this energy vector will make major contributions to the energy and ecological transition. This chapter provides an overview of the hybridization of hydrogen with renewable energy systems with an aim to optimize the energy network. In addition, it discusses the role of hydrogen as a storage option and its use in electromobility. The production of “green hydrogen” is not yet a reality. A transformation of energy systems and the technical and economic context will be necessary to achieve this.
