Rhesus monkeys with cryptosporidiosis generally have a profuse watery diarrhea associated with dehydration, particularly in infants (Cockrell et al. 1974; Miller et al. 1990a, b; Wilson et al. 1984). Fever is uncommon but hypothermia as a complication of dehydration occurs commonly. The intestinal tract of affected animals is variably distended with fluid and gas. In animals that have involvement of the gall bladder and bile ducts, mural thickening may be present and the bile tends to be scant, pale and mucoid.
