Study on congestion control for opportunistic network

Congestion in opportunistic networks may take the state of persistentstorage exhaustion and affects the network performance seriously.Opportunistic networks adopt "store-carry-forward" routing pattern to implement communications among nodes and take advantage of the nodes' encounter opportunities to transfer messages in a hop-by-hop way.This networking approach,totally different from the traditional communication model,poses significant challenge for congestion control mechanism.The routing and forwarding mechanisms of opportunistic networks was firstly introduced and the reason that the existing routing protocols may result in congestion was analyzed.Thenthe relation between congestion control of opportunistic network and delay tolerant network(DTN) was expounds,and it was briefly described why the adaptive congestion control is more suitable for opportunistic networks.Also,dthe research progress of adaptive congestion control of opportunistic network was introduced.Finally,the possible research focuses for congestion control technique of opportunistic networks in the future were summarized and previewed.
