Study of laser MSEC plasma

Abstract An experiraental installation for investigation of plasma formed by long laser pulse (tp = 40 μec) is described. Charge spectra and energy distributions for Al, Cu and Ta ions are presented. Maximum ion charge for aluminium is (+ 8), for copper (+ 8), for tantalum (+11). Conclusion on the possibility to build an effective source of multi-charged ions on the basis of CO2-laser with long laser pulse duration is made.
