Numerical Simulation and Analysis of Bimorph Pressure Hydrophone Based on ANSYS

2019
Inspired by the new bender disc transducer, the bimorph sound pressure hydrophone is designed by changing the upper and lower ceramic discs with the same polarization direction to be connected in series. The natural frequency and mode shape in the air and the admittance curve and sound pressure sensitivity in water are calculated with ANSYS Software. It’s indicated from the results that the working mode of the bimorph sound pressure hydrophone is bending vibration along the thickness direction and the first-order resonant frequency of the bimorph sound pressure hydrophone is about 3600Hz, furthermore, the sensitivity level is about −177.8±0.4dB (0dB=1V/μPa) in the 20~1000Hz and the test result is beyond B&K’s 8104 hydrophone nearly 25dB.
