The Changeable Region of Wind Power Considering Its Uncertainty

2020
The rapid development of wind power generation imposes unprecedented challenges on power system operations due to stochastic variations. This paper seeks to compute how much nodal injected wind power variation a power system can handle. Two corrective control strategies—the fixed and the fully adaptive participation factor—are considered. To speed up the computation for fully adaptive participation factor strategy, a pairwise convex hull is proposed to build a more compact initial set, and a local admissible region is characterized instead of the whole region. To reduce the required computation, a novel method is proposed to decrease the number of inequalities. Finally, the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed methodology are verified on a modified 5-bus and 118-bus systems.
