This paper discusses the application of an existing statistical analysis technique called Fault Tree Analysis to Automatic BusBar Transfer Switch failures on a new class ofNaval Supply Ship. Fault Tree Analysis is a technique, used in many High Technology Industries, to pictorially display facts surrounding system, equipment or process failures. Technological complexity and safety concerns in the marine industry make it necessary to also use an organized technique to display facts affecting undesirable events, or failures, and their cause and effect.
