COMMENTS REGARDING CONSIDERATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS FOR STUDY IN THE AREA OF STRUCTURAL RELIEF

The President has charged the National Commission for the Review of Antitrust Laws and Procedures (the "Commission") with the task of studying the remedies available in complex antitrust cases and recommending ways to improve the effectiveness of such remedies. Specifically, the Commission is directed to develop proposals for increasing the effectiveness of structural relief awarded after a finding of a violation of the antitrust laws. We appear before the Commission today to comment upon that portion of Item (l)(vii) of the Executive Order directing the Commission to give consideration to the subject of structural relief in monopolization and acquisition cases.
