Treatment of Floating Shoulder Injury with Yitanium Reconstruction Plate and Calcaneal Plate

Objective: To explore injury mechanism,clinical features and operative treatment of the floating shoulder Injury (FSI). Methods:A retrospective analysis was done on 8 cases which were treated with titanium reconstructive plate and calcaneal plate with FSI. Results: All FSI of seven cases was followed up and the mean follow up time (rang,6 to 34 month). According to Herscovici’s evaluation, four cases showed excellent results,two good and one fair. The fractures of scapular and clavicle were bone healing.Post-traumatic arthritis was found in 1 case,triangular muscle and shoulder joint abduction weakness in 1 case postoperation. Conclusions: FSI is often caused by direct high-energy violence and has a high incidence of serious associated injuries of which clinical awareness great significance. It is advantageous to treat FSI by open reduction and internal fixation with titanium reconstruction plate and calcaneal plate.
