COMPONENTES DE VARIÂNCIA E COVARIÂNCIA E ESTIMATIVAS DE HERDABILIDADE PARA SUÍNOS DUROC E PIETRAIN DE TESTE DE GRANJA

Duroc and Pietrain boars and gilts age (ID90kg) and backfat (ET90kg) data collected on-farm test and adjusted for 90 kg live weight were used to estimate components of variance, covariance and heritability. Total number of records was 6,395. Statistical analyses were performed by REML method using VCE-5. Heritability estimates for ID90kg and ET90kg were respectively 0,146 and 0,227 for Duroc, and 0,219 and 0,211 for Pietrain Genetic correlations between traits were -0,233 for Duroc and -0,472 for Pietrain, suggesting that selection of animals must be done using multivariate procedures.
