Portable device and operating method for touch panel thereof

PURPOSE: A portable device including a touch panel is provided to minimize installation space when installing a touch screen to a portable device. CONSTITUTION: A touch panel is formed on a wider area than a touch panel and comprises a first area(201) on the overlapped area and a second area(203) on the non overlapped area. A control unit performs a specific user function by the touch event which is generated on the first or the second areas. A storing unit stores user function allocation information which can be performed by the touch event which is generated on the second area.
