Quantitative Estimation of Wing Damage for Fixed-wing Aircraft

The flight ability will be affected, and the flight path will be deviated from the desired trajectory when wing damage of the fixed-wing aircraft happen in flight. More seriously, the fixed-wing aircraft will be loss-of-control as a result of severe situations. A method of quantitative estimation the wing damage degree of fixed-wing aircraft is proposed in this paper. In this method, MMAE method is not only used to solve the problem of parameter estimation which is difficult to establish an analytical formula between the system state and the parameter of wing damage, but is also used to improve the accuracy of estimation in the case of large difference between the actual wing damage and the presupposed damage. The simulation results show that the proposed estimation method can accurately estimate the wing damage degree of the fixed-wing aircraft.
