Blackout model for hybrid AC/DC power system

2014
A blackout model for hybrid AC/DC power systems is presented on the basis of self-organized criticality theory in this paper. The model considers the related operating characteristics of DC transmission system and the defending impact of security dispatch department during fault propagation, which takes AC/DC power flow calculation as its main tool to study the overall action characteristics of cascading failure. Simulation based on this model is performed to IEEE 30 bus system, and its rationality has been verified. Besides, in condition of different operation parameters, the blackout distributions are calculated and the impact on system self-organized criticality is analyzed, which can provides useful recommendations to the actual operation of power system.
