The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health must prioritize its investments in workplace safety and health to make the best use of available funding. However, a number of challenges impede understanding of the benefits associated with research activities. The authors define a process for selecting case studies of the economic benefits of the agency's research and services and evaluate benefits associated with three selected cases.
