Dickson Charge Pump: Design Strategy for Optimum Efficiency

This work reports an accurate analysis of the power breakdown of Dickson Charge Pumps exploiting the concept of short circuit current. The achieved results show that, when operating in the optimum region of switching limit, the power conversion efficiency of the charge pump can be maximized by properly setting the short circuit current. Simulation results using a 0.13-μm CMOS technology confirm the theoretical analysis with an error lower than 9.8%.
