Magnetic and transport properties of Bi0.5Sr0.5FexMn1−xO3

A series Bi0.5Sr0.5FexMn1−xO3 (0 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.8) was synthesized by a solid‐state reaction. X‐ray and neutron powder diffraction show that the crystal structure is orthorhombic for x ⩽ 0.3 and cubic for x > 0.4 at room temperature. The charge/orbital order exists in the pure form for the compound without Fe. The magnetic states of the compounds with Fe‐content change from paramagnetic to weak antiferromagnetic ones. The conductivity of compounds, measured between 90 K and 600 K is of semiconducting‐type, and there is no magnetoresistence in a field of 7 kOe.
