Cyber Defamation : The Court of Social Media

2018
Unfortunately, cyber defamation is becoming increasingly common these days. Consider the recent Gurugram suicide case, in which a 12th-grade guy committed suicide after a girl accused him of rape in an Instagram story. She claims she was raped by him two years ago, but she has no documentation to back up her claim. Her tale went viral very immediately, and others began sharing it to show their support without thinking about the facts. The accused was found guilty by the Instagram court. That small boy lost his life as a result of India’s new social media law society. Cyber defamation is defined as the act of purposefully insulting, defaming, or offending another person or party via a virtual medium. It can be written or spoken. The Internet has given us the ability to share our views with the rest of the world. We may quickly share something and it will go viral in a matter of minutes. If you are opposed to a government program, for example, you may write about it and people who agree with you will start sharing it. However, many individuals today do not realize that declaring an OPINION is not the same as proclaiming a FACT.
