Effect of pregnancy on the functional state of the upper respiratory tracts

1976
: The author studied the condition of various components responsible for the protective function of the upper respiratory tract mucous membrane as well as the olfactory sensibility in 439 pregnant women. She found certain regularities in the change of the motor, absorbing and secretory activity of the mucous membrane and olfactory sensibility, the calorific effect and the active reaction of the secrete being less characteristic. She emphasizes that the above changes cause the development of respiratory disorders in women during the period of pregnancy.
