A PRACTICAL EVALUATION APPROACH FOR OD INTERVENTIONS

2013
Organization development (OD) as a long-term planned change has been considered one of the promising approaches for organizational success. Also, OD could provide a wide range of strategies to enhance individual and organizational performance. Hence, many organizations have been making change efforts, and there have been various OD interventions either to solve their problems or to leverage their strengths. Since OD interventions may require organizations to invest a great deal of resources (e.g., time and money), if a needed change is identified by organizations, evaluating OD interventions to ensure desired OD outcomes has also become essential. Despite the importance of OD evaluation, many OD practitioners encounter difficulties in conducting evaluation of OD interventions partly due to the lack of practical guidelines and the complexity of rigorous evaluation. Thus, this paper aims at providing practical guidelines for OD evaluation as a step-by-step approach so that OD practitioners can follow and apply them to their workplace. Implications for OD practitioners are also discussed.
