Mechanisation at the Grassington Lead Mines

1988
AbstractThis paper concentrates on the lead mines at Grassington, Yorkshire, and traces the development of mechanisation during the nineteenth century. The archaeology of the sites is examined and discussed, along with historical evidence, to establish a rigorous chronology for the complex changes which occurred. The effect on the mines' productivity has also been shown.
