Two xanthones from root bark of Garcinia subelliptica

Abstract Two new prenylated xanthones, 1,4,5,6-tetrahydroxy-2-(1,1-dimethyl-2-propenyl)-7,8-di-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)xanthone (subelliptenone A) and 1,2,5,6-tetrahydroxy-4-(1,1-dimethyl-2-propenyl)-7-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)xanthone (subelliptenone B) were isolated from the root bark of Garcinia subelliptica . The structures were determined by NMR spectroscopy including 2D techniques and chemical transformation. Subelliptenone A has a novel substitution of isoprenyl units.
