Analysis of clinical use of bicyclol tablets and other combined medicines in elderly patients based on real world database

OBJECTIVE To learn about characteristics of bicyclol tablets used in elderly patients.METHODS A total of 1085 cases of hospital information system(HIS)data from18 Three-A hospitals were collected as research subjects to analyze their basic information,affiliated diseases,drug combinations by using frequency statistics method and association rules.RESULTS 75.48% of elderly patients were aged 66-74 years.Male and female ratio of patients was about 2∶1.The hospitalization duration was 15-28 days in more than one third inpatients.The most common western medicine combined with bicyclol tablets was dietary supplement.The most common traditional Chinese medicine combined with bicyclol tablets was heat and dampness clearing drug.When bicyclol tablets were combined with a traditional Chinese medicine and a western medicine,it was always combined with an injection and glutathione.The most common combination in association analysis was glycyrrhizic acid injection with other drugs,such as furosemide,thymosin and spironolactone.CONCLUSION In clinical practice to treat hepatic diseases by using traditional Chinese medicine,doctors should consider the prescription and combine different drugs by clearing heat and dampness,removing blood stasis and supporting healthy energy.Bicyclol tablets and glycyrrhizic acid injection may produce synergetic effects in treating hepatitis and preventing liver cancer.Bicyclol tablets and thymosin may produce synergetic effects when treating hepatitis B,preventing tumor and withstanding side effects of chemotherapeutic agents to liver.Bicyclol tablets may produce synergetic effects with glycyrrhizic acid injection,glutathione,spironolactone,furosemide and thymosin when treating cirrhotic with ascites.
