ÖBB-Produktion Gmbh, Chancen und Herausforderungen

In 2009, essential changes in the structure of the Austrian Federal Railways (OBB) Group were stipulated within the scope of the Austrian Federal Railways Act (BBG). The amalgamation of the infrastructural campanies Betrieb AG (operation) and Bau AG (construction), and the realignment of the OBB-Dienstleistungsgesellschaft (service company) on the one hand, as well as changing the name of the OBB-Traktion GmbH to OBB-Produktion GmbH, with the possibility of consolidation of traction and shunting in the new company was effected on the other hand. The purpose of the production company is not only to guarantee discrimination-free access of shunting services for other rail transport companies, but to support the PV AG and RCA AG in the competitive environment in order to be able to survive in the liberalised rail transport market. The article formulates the essential topics in this connection, the required realignment of strategy and processes as well as the essential parameters for a successful future.
