Real-time Prediction Of Traffic Congestion

This paper provides short descriptions of a Traffic Monitoring System and a model system that is being developed to predict traffic conditions for the Netherlands motorway network. A prototype version of the model system will be developed and implemented, and real-time field tests of the congestion prediction system will be conducted as a part of the DRIVE II DYNA project. The paper contains some initial results of the tests.
