We thank Dr Wu and colleagues for their comments on our recent study comparing the efficacy of hydrogen (H2) gas inhalation and targeted temperature management (TTM) at 33°C in the treatment of post–cardiac arrest syndrome. In our study,1 rapid cooling was started 5 minutes after achieving the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). Rectal temperature reached 33°C within 15 minutes. The temperature was maintained for 2 hours, followed by a rewarming at a rate of 1.5°C/h up to 37°C. We believe that this experimental protocol is optimized for the following reasons.
