Room-temperature multiferroic bismuth ferrite ceramic co-doped with barium and chromium and preparation method thereof

2014
The invention discloses room-temperature multiferroic bismuth ferrite ceramic co-doped with barium and chromium and a preparation method thereof, and belongs to the field of material science. The chemical formula of the ceramic material is Bi1-xBaxFe1-yCryO3, wherein x is smaller than or equal to 0.2 and greater than 0; y is smaller than or equal to 0.1 and greater than 0. The method comprises the following steps: mixing the raw materials, namely BaCO3, Bi2O3, Cr2O3 and Fe2O3 according to a stoichiometric ratio, ball-milling and baking; calcining at 800-840 DEG C for 2 hours after baking; ball-milling the powder again; baking, adding a polyvinyl alcohol solution; fully grinding and then pressing into flakes by using a tablet press under the pressure of 472MPa; discharging glue-shaped substance at 560 DEG C for 2 hours; calcining at 890-920 DEG C for 2 hours to form the ceramic. The multiferroic ceramic prepared by the method has excellent ferroelctric characteristics and ferromagnetic properties at room temperature.
