Comparison of PSO and GWO Techniques for SHEPWM Inverters

2020
Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulse Width Modulation (SHEPWM) inverters have a wider application as far as model industrial scenario is concerned. A PV fed Boost converter has been used as a source for SHEPWM inverter. This paper presents a comparative analysis for selective harmonic elimination technique using PSO and GWO algorithm for PWM inverters. A set of transcendental equations used to find the switching angles from the metaheuristic algorithms eliminating the desired order of harmonic to achieve minimum voltage THD under different modulation index. It has been found that the angles generated from GWO algorithms fetch minimum voltage THD to the load. The contribution of the paper can be observed in the area of harmonic compensation as far as possible before introducing it to the grid, thus making the system more reliable. Apart from this, efficiency of the proposed model was also determined to provide justification to the work.
