Metal losses with scale after the reconstruction of the furnace by heating the workpiece of 300  365  7900 mm in size from the steel of E76HF brand for the production of 100 m rails have been identified. The reconstruction of the furnace has made it possible to reduce the losses of metal with the scale, which currently account for an average of 1,0 1,2 % losses of pure iron. Before the furnace reconstruction the metal losses with scale reached 1,5 -1,6 %. When the heating time is about 4 hours, the value of scale formation does not exceed 0,7 %.
