2013
The Doce River basin, located in Southeastern Brazil, has a significant portion of all fish biodiversity of the coastal basins of that country. One of the main tributaries of the Doce River is the Guandu River, in the State of Espirito Santo. The present study aimed to inventory the fish fauna of the Guandu River. Were captured 202 individuals, distributed in 6 orders, 17 families and 34 species. Among the species found, eight of them are alien species and one may be under threat of extinction in the region. The results contribute to the knowledge of the fish fauna of the lower Doce River. Deeper scientific studies in the region are still extremely important to design strategies for conservations measures.
