Environment-Friendly Approach to Fabricate Iron Nanochains as a Superb Adsorbent and Recycled as a Fine Photo-Fenton Catalyst

2017
Herein, a facile chemical reduction technique was used to fabricate iron nanochains under room temperature. They show high adsorption capacity of 480 mg g−1 and 100 mg L−1 of Orange ΙΙ can be almost removed within 1 min. More important thing is iron nanochains can be recycled as a photo-Fenton catalyst to continuously degrade Orange ΙΙ. Specifically, 98% of Orange ΙΙ could be decomposed within 100 min under simulated solar light irradiation and 80% of the degradation rate was maintained even after 6 successive cycles, indicating its good photocatalytic performance and reusability. Hence, iron nanochains reported in the paper realize the maximum reusability of materials. An environment-friendly approach to fabricate iron nanochains as a superb adsorbent and recycled as a fine photo-Fenton catalyst.
