Optimization on 2D Unstructured Mesh Generation Based on GIS

2010
The unstructured mesh generation is one of the key technical issues in numerical simulations, and the quality of mesh has a significant impact on convergence and accuracy of calculation.Based on establishing spatial topological relations between the mesh nodes and triangulation in GIS,the definition of element scaling function for the Spring-Laplace method considering GIS and the research issue,is proposed to optimize node positions. Also based on the idea of advancing front algorithm and spatial topological relations between the mesh nodes and triangulation, the re-numbering algorithm is proposed to facilitate the assignment of the open boundary conditions and improve the computational efficiency. The application to the practical simulation shows that the proposed method can greatly enhance the quality of mesh generation, adapt to unstructured mesh generation requirements of FVCOM numerical model with rapid convergence and high computational efficiency.
