Your Institutional Support/Academic Environment

Institutional support is paramount for faculty advancement. There are multitudes of ways your institution is built to help you. In this chapter we will describe the second circle in the socioecological model (described in chapter “ The Framework for This Book: The Socio-Ecological Model”), your institution, and how the support of your institution is fundamental to your development as a researcher and scientist and to the development of your team. Although identifying what your institutional support is may feel like hide-and-seek, really this is seek-and-find. There is a lot out there; you just have to intentionally and purposefully look for it all.
