Decreasing incidence of CNS AIDS defining events associated with antiretroviral therapy

We read with interest the article by d’Arminio Monforte et al.1 and have the following comments.
First, an earlier report also showed the efficacy of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) in reducing the incidence of CNS AIDS defining events.2 However, contrary to d’Arminio et al., we found a significantly smaller reduction in the incidence of AIDS dementia complex (ADC) compared to both other CNS and non CNS opportunistic conditions.2 There are three potential reasons for the discrepant results.
