Minimally invasive interventions—laparoscopic ureteric clipping

2020
Abstract We describe an alternative to traditional surgical approaches for large ureteroceles associated with a poorly functioning upper moiety, laparoscopic clipping. The procedure involves ligating or clipping the ureter associated with the ureterocele as close to the bladder as possible, after aspirating the ureterocele to achieve full decompression. The procedure is simple, does not pose any risk to the residual lower moiety function or lead to de novo vesicoureteral reflux. Although experience with this technique is still limited to a small number of cases, early results are promising; nonetheless, longer follow-up is warranted.
