Studies on Halimeda. III. A Daily Cycle of Chloroplast Migration within Segments

In this paper we shall show that the paling of Halimeda plants is due to actual movement of chloroplasts into the interior of the segments, describe the diurnal pattern of this movement both in the field and also in the laboratory under irradiance and temperature conditions similar to those experienced in the field, and we shall discuss possible mechanisms and consequences of this phenomenon
