ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY FOR ROAD FREIGHT TRAFFIC MONITORING AND CONTROL

This paper first describes the findings of a research study of the technical and economic feasibility of developing a national heavy vehicle electronic license plate (HELP) system in the U.S.A. The second part examines the feasibility of using satellite-based systems for the monitoring and control of hazardous cargo shipments.
