One Hop Traffic Estimation Based Slack Time Minimization Technique for Best Effort Traffic Quality of Service Using GT Slack in Noc Systems

2016
The arrival of NoC routers has paved the way for many hand held devices and applications which supports numerous information exchange solutions. Even though the quality of service provided by NoC routers is still questioning one due to the GT slack and Best effort traffic at various traffic conditions. To overcome the problem of GT and BE traffics, we propose a naval one hop traffic estimation (OHTE) technique which reduces the overhead of exchanging traffic patterns between the nodes of network at critical bandwidth conditions. In this approach, whenever a packet being forwarded to another node and received its own, it computes the rate of arrival for the single hop from where the packet being delivered. The source node before forwarding a packet to another PDA or mobile device or a router, it identifies and selects a single node which has least arrival rate of packets. This is performed by querying the one hop neighbor about the traffic rate of the neighbor selected for forwarding. The proposed method has reduced the network overhead introduced by other traffic exchange patterns and increases the GT slack in NoC systems.
