Metamagnetic anomaly in single-crystalline CeFe2Ge2 and Ce1−xLaxFe2Ge2

Abstract We have observed a metamagnetic anomaly from a non-magnetic ground state on single-crystalline CeFe 2 Ge 2 and Ce 1− x La x Fe 2 Ge 2 at around H =300 kOe. For Ce 1− x La x Fe 2 Ge 2 , the metamagnetic anomaly smears out for x ⩾0.1. However, no magnetic order nor non-Fermi-liquid behavior was observed for x ⩽0.2 in contrast with the case of Ce 1− x La x Ru 2 Si 2 in which the magnetic instability was reported for x =0.08.
