P.2.005 The trans-isomer of resveratrol acutely improves motivation in rat

2013
P 0.05]. Conclusions: Treatment with non-sedative doses of nepicastat reduced the reinforcing and motivational properties of CFB and totally suppressed the reinstatement of CFB-seeking in rats. The suppressing effect of nepicastat on reinstatement of CFB-seeking replicated the drug effect on reinstatement of cocaine-seeking [2], suggesting that common neuronal circuitries underlie relapse-like behaviours for different rewards. Based on the mechanism of action of nepicastat, these results imply a role for brain noradrenaline and dopamine in CFBseeking and -taking behaviours. These results suggest that nepicastat is potentially effective in the treatment of ‘chocoholism’ and addictive-like, food-related behaviours.
