Assessment of evolutionary programming, firefly algorithm and cuckoo search algorithm in single-objective optimization

This paper presents an assessment of different computational intelligences, i.e evolutionary algorithm (EP), firefly algorithm (FA) and cuckoo search algorithm (CSA) for solving single-objective optimization problem. Recently, these algorithms have been widely used and applied to solve different types of optimization problems. However, the performance of these optimization algorithms have not been compared against each other based on certain benchmark functions. In this study, four test functions are used to evaluate the optimization performance of EP, FA and CSA. The results showed that CSA produced the best fitness value with lowest computation time when compared with EP and FA.
